Training

Tailored training options suited to individuals and companies

We offer a wide range of professional training options depending on your application, solution and industry. In commercial applications it is generally a requirement that you need to be licensed and/or certified by the Civil Aviation Safety Authority (CASA). To make this process easier, we offer, among many others, CASA accredited Industry Partner training to both prepare and qualify you to become an effective commercial drone operator in Australia.

Our courses are offered over 2 days, with each day containing a ½ day of theory and a ½ day practical. Introduction to Drones will provide participants with with a general introduction to drones and if great for those who are or are not looking to get their RePL.

Corporate training packages are also available as well as further discounts for booking courses and certification together – for example - CASA Remote Pilot Licence + CASA Remote Pilot Aircraft Operator's Certificate. Should you choose to not undertake training, we offer an in-house pilot option. Operating under our own CASA certification, our professional pilots will perform all the tasks your application requires. So whatever your training needs, we can and will meet them in a timely and professional manner.

Brands covered include DJI, Flyability, Skydio, Microdrones, Micasense, Yellowscan and Boston Dynamics. Participating in training will give participants a deep understanding of of drones or a specific asset, as well as hands on practical experience.

Meeting our training requirements

  • Recreational – No licence is required. You are just required to abide by the Standard Operating Conditions. These can be found in your drone manual. We also strongly encourage you to visit the Civil Aviation Safety Authority (CASA) information forum on drone use.
  • Excluded Category – This is where your drone equipment weighs less than 2kg – also known as (Sub-2kg). You are required to register your details and abide by the Standard Operating Conditions. These can be found in your drone manual. We also strongly encourage you to visit the Civil Aviation Safety Authority (CASA) information forum on drone use.
  • RPA Operator’s Certificate (ReOC) and Remote Pilot Licence (RePL) required. Commercial use operations (outside Recreational and Excluded Category), generally require pilots to hold an RePL and operate under an ReOC. As an example, this is similar to Qantas having an Operating Certificate and all their pilots being individually licenced.
  • Trick 4th Category -– This category allows landholders such as farmers to fly on their own land as long as their drone equipment is less than 150kg. Specifically, if it weighs between 2kg and 25kg, no ReOC is required. If it weighs between 25kg and 150kg, however, an RePL is required but no ReOC.

Of course, we always encourage pilots flying, or seeking to fly commercially, to undertake continuing education and training.
