The goal with Pixhawk2 was not just to update Pixhawk but, to fundamentally redesign the entire experience while maintaining the independent, open-hardware design. Pixhawk2 is the world’s most advanced open autopilot system aimed at meeting the needs of the academic, hobby and industrial communities at low cost and high availability. Utilizing the advanced APM firmware, Pixhawk2 turns any remote controlled plane, copter, or rover into a full-featured professional drone.
The Pixhawk2 has been designed for hobbyists and professionals alike. The “cube” is the center of that philosophy, providing all the functions expected from a modern autopilot with one simple interface. The 80pin DF17 connector seamlessly attaches to the carrier board for a complete standalone autopilot or can be used by OEM’s to design carrier boards for custom solutions.
Boasting triple redundant IMU’s with vibration isolation and built-in heat control for operation in low-temperature environments, the Pixhawk2 Cube is second to none.
An integrated, single board / box flight controller.
All-in-one design with integrated FMU and IO and lots of I/O ports.
Improved sensor performance.
Improved microcontroller resources.
Increased reliability and reduced integration complexity.
Separate power supplies for FMU and IO (see power architecture section).
On-board battery backup for FMU and IO SRAM / RTC.
So much I/O
14 PWM ports, five general purpose serial ports, three analog inputs, two I2C ports, two CAN Bus interface ports and, an SPI port make Pixhawk2 more than capable for most applications without the need for expansion. This is broken out on the carrier board for use with; GPS, Telemetry, External USB, RGB LED and safety switch, airspeed sensors, CAN bus ESCs, power modules and much much more.
