The Scentroid DR300 is a system developed to offer an innovative solution for the measurement of key environmental parameters, ie the quality of air we breathe. The Air Quality Sampling Unit consists of a flying laboratory to fit on a small drone (drone not included). It can be used to sample and analyze ambient air at heights of up to 150 meters above ground level that was previously impossible to accomplish. Air quality mapping, model verification, analysis of potentially dangerous sites are all made possible by this novel innovation.
The Scentroid DR300 introduces the unique advantage of measuring the presence of chemical pollutants, industrial processing of fumes and more in real time and with the advantage of mobility of the drone. You can then follow the default paths, or choose them according to the need of the hour. Another advantage of using the drone is that you can greatly reduce the risks to human operators, thus avoiding exposing them to potentially deadly agents.
How it works
The Scentroid DR300 has two integrated chemical sensors that analyze the air at regular intervals, sending the information to the operator on the ground. The information is also stored in a memory in order to make subsequent mappings. See the Specifications tab for a full list of available sensors.
When the operator identifies the critical areas, or if you want measurements at particular locations (eg. Water tower), you can remotely control the filling of a plastic bag with air to make subsequent analysis in the laboratory. With tracings made along the way you can build a dynamic map (also three-dimensional) of the temporal evolution of the air pollutant dispersion.
The Scentroid DR300 uses up to two sensors of your choice, a full list can be found in the Specifications tab. Some measured in parts per million (ppm), others in parts per billion (ppb).
The Scentroid DR300 is constantly connected with a ground station that collects real-time information. This allows the operator to understand the state of the situation in the air and if necessary take immediate decisions (ez. Sample the air with bag).

Sampling from Hazardous Sources
With the DR300 sampling drone operator can stay safely away from hazardous sources while acquiring environmental samples.
Direct Flare Plume Sampling
The DR300 can be flown into the plume of a flare to take direct samples for analysis for chemical composition and olfactometery. Temperature and humidity of the plume are also measure to ease dispersion calculation.
Continuous Chemical Monitoring
Scentroid DR300 air sampling drone is capable of providing remote monitoring of more than 50 chemicals. Data from on-board sensors are transmitted to operator’s tablet for to be viewed live and logged.
A New Dimension in Air Sampling
Refineries, petrochemical plants, and many other processes have emissions that are difficult to sample using traditional methods. The sampling drone opens a whole new dimension in air sampling by allowing the operator to take direct samples from odour plumes and other sources that are difficult and /or dangerous without exposure to physical or chemical hazards.
Taking samples at various heights upwind and downwind of the plant allows for accurate measurement of all emissions generated by the plant without the need for source sampling.
Improves Air Sampling Capability Over Difficult Terrain and at Different Heights
It is often necessary to sample stacks, ponds, and other location where human access is difficult and /or dangerous. Furthermore, operator exposure to dangerous chemicals during sampling must be carefully considered. The Scentroid sampling drone gas detector allows the operator to stay safely away from potentially hazardous sources while acquiring the required air sample for laboratory analysis. The sampling drone can also be used to sample ambient air at an elevation of up to 150 meters above ground level that was previously impossible to accomplish.
One Operator Can Handle Everything
The Scentroid DR300 sampling unit is a complete package where one person can fly the drone, monitor the exact location of the drone including longitude, latitude, altitude, height and take samples all without being exposed to any physical or chemical hazards. The dedicated remote and Drone App allow the operator to initiate pump, monitor H2S and Ammonia, take temperature, GPS position and height readings.
Continuous Chemical Monitoring
Scentroid DR300 Air sampling unit provides continuous monitoring of multiple chemicals. While in flight, built-in sensors can provide remote monitoring of H2S, Ammonia, VOC, and more than 30 other chemicals. Data is transmitted to the operator’s tablet for live monitoring and recording. Chemical readings along with GPS position and altitude can provide 3D mapping of ambient pollution and odour levels. This feature can also be used to guide the operator into a plume for bag sampling.
How many liters is each sample bag?
The standard sample bag that is included is 3 Liters but larger ones up to 10 Liters can be ordered. (However be aware that the length of a fully inflated 10 Litre bag may exceed past the landing gear of most drones.)
Is it possible to sample from a source under negative pressure?
Yes. Under 100 mbar the standard unit will operate with minimal dilution variance. Above 100 mbar specific calibration sheets are provided by Scentroid and should be used.
How do I proceed with an order?
To place an order, a 50% deposit is required. Lead time is approximately 5-weeks from time of order.
